8 DAY H.A.C Mahogany pagoda type clock C1911 This type of clock first appeared on the market about 1911 and was manufactured by The Hamburg American Clock Company, other styles included a four glass version with a mock 'mercury' pendulum. There are two clocks for sale at the moment-- pictures below. It is becoming harder to find ' collectable clocks' at reasonable prices at the moment, these clocks were purchased from a shop in Suffolk were I was assured that they had been ' looked at' by somebody who knew about clocks! (Where have I heard that before?) Well he was right-they did go-sort of, so into the workshop I went to have a closer look! Both clocks were taken apart and as I wiped the tears from my eyes I wandered what I'd let myself into. As you may have gathered I like old clocks but I have to keep reminding myself that I do it for a living, and as I added up the cost of buying these clocks, and the cost of the repairs needed to each of them it was not looking good for the clocks. Anyhow to cut a long story short they were restored and are now offered for sale. I have included some horrendous pictures of somebody's attempt to repair these clocks ( I hope it wasn't you ) There was enough solder on these wheels to last me a lifetime!
