Making a new barrel wheel

This picture shows what can happen to a barrel if you take the plates apart with fully wound springs!! it needs a new wheel cut

First the wheel is removed from the barrel by gently heating until it comes away

 

The old barrel ring is cleaned up and old soldier is removed

This picture shows the blank trued up and fitted to the ring ready for the wheel cutter
