  8 day timepiece made by Victor-Athanase Pierret (1806-93) this is stamped on the back-plate as 'V.A.P.' and 'Brevete S.G.D.G.' He was an important maker of alarms at this time. The dial is of white enamel and the case is made of ebonised fruit wood.

 

 

 This is the  movement after repair ( I'm afraid the highly polished back plate reflexes my kitchen but you can still make out the makers stamp) On this movement the escape wheel and lever are between the plates while the balance is on a small separate platform on the back plate giving it it's nickname of wagtail.
